[Financial News] CJ CGV is unveiling a new cinema in Unjeong New Town, Paju. Following the opening of CGV Godeok Gangil in Seoul last April—the first new location in three years—the company is now launching a five-screen, 464-seat theater in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
CJ CGV announced on the 3rd that CGV Paju Unjeong, located on the fourth floor of Starfield Village Unjeong in Wad-dong, Paju, Gyeonggi Province, will hold its grand opening on the 5th. Before the official opening, the theater will welcome audiences during a pre-opening event on the 3rd and 4th.
CGV Paju Unjeong features five screens and 464 seats, with all seats equipped with recliners. The theater is directly connected to Unjeong Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line via a pedestrian deck on the second floor, ensuring convenient access. Its location within a large shopping mall and proximity to residential areas make it an ideal destination for families.
The cinema adopts the concept of a 'walkable alley (LANEWAY), a plaza where you want to linger,' creating a flow from the lobby to the lounge and screening rooms that feels like strolling through an alley. To celebrate the opening, a variety of events have been prepared. More details can be found on the CGV mobile app and website.
Kwon Won-kyung, head of CGV’s Seoul-Gyeonggi 1 Sales Team, stated, “CGV Paju Unjeong aims to be a community-based cinema where people can easily drop by as part of their daily lives. We expect it to become a local hub where residents can relax and connect with one another.”
Meanwhile, the number of cinemas is on the decline. This year, CJ CGV has closed five locations nationwide, including Songpa, Yeonsu Station, Changwon, Gwangju Terminal, and Cheongju Yullyang.
