On this day, a donation ceremony was held at the Community Chest of Korea’s headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by Kim Byong-joon, Chairman of the Community Chest of Korea, Jang Seok-hoon, President overseeing Samsung’s CSR, and employee representatives Seo Jun-young and Jongchan Park from the Samsung Electronics Labor-Management Council.
From 1999 to 2003, Samsung donated 10 billion KRW annually. From 2004 to 2010, the amount increased to 20 billion KRW per year. In 2011, the donation was 30 billion KRW, and since 2012, Samsung has contributed 50 billion KRW each year.
Despite an uncertain business environment, Samsung stated that it maintained the same donation level as last year. The Community Chest of Korea presented Samsung with a plaque of appreciation for its consistent contributions. This year’s donation was made possible by the participation of 23 affiliates, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDS, Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Samsung Card, Samsung Securities, Samsung C&T Corporation, Samsung E&A, Cheil Worldwide, and S-1 Corporation.
Donations voluntarily collected from employees were also included in the fund. The contributions from Samsung will be used to support youth education and assist the socially vulnerable. Kim Byong-joon expressed gratitude, saying, “We thank Samsung for continuing its meaningful sharing this year. In particular, Samsung’s social contribution activities have become a strong stepping stone for young people to venture into a wider world.” Jang Seok-hoon remarked, “Although the business environment remains challenging, Samsung steadfastly upholds its principle of growing together with society. We hope this year-end fund brings hope to neighbors in need.”
Meanwhile, throughout November, Samsung employees participated in the 'Donation Pledge Campaign,' selecting CSR programs and donation amounts for 2026. The pledged donations will be automatically deducted from monthly salaries starting next year, and the company will match employee contributions with equivalent amounts.
