[The Financial News] A man in his 60s has been arrested after threatening to set a real estate office on fire if they did not provide the address of his estranged wife.
According to the legal community on the 30th, Judge Ha Heon-woo of the Seoul Eastern District Court issued an arrest warrant the previous day for Mr. Kim (65), who was apprehended at the scene on charges of attempted arson and making threats.
The court explained that the warrant was issued due to concerns about destruction of evidence, risk of flight, and the suspect’s lack of a fixed address.
Mr. Kim is accused of threatening a real estate agent in Sangil-dong, Gangdong District, Seoul, on the 27th, demanding the new address of his wife, who had moved out. He reportedly said, "If you don't give me the address, I will set the place on fire with gasoline."
After failing to obtain the information at the real estate office, Mr. Kim was apprehended by police later that afternoon while purchasing gasoline at a nearby gas station.
