[Financial News] There is growing speculation that Intel Corporation will be contracted to manufacture Apple Inc.'s advanced chips.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the two companies have recently signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and are discussing the possibility of Intel Corporation producing Apple M series chips. He shared this update on the 28th (local time).

According to Kuo, Intel Corporation could begin shipping these chips as early as the second or third quarter of 2027.

The Apple M series chip is designed in-house by Apple Inc. and is used in Mac computers and iPads.

Apple Inc. began releasing its own chips starting with the Apple M1 in 2020, and last month, the company launched the Apple M5 chip.

However, it is reported that Intel Corporation will likely produce previous-generation chips used in entry-level models, rather than the latest Apple M series chips.

The shipment volume of the lowest-priced Apple M series chips is projected to be between 15 million and 20 million units in 2025 and 2027.

Apple Inc. had previously used Intel Corporation processors in its Mac computers and desktops, but effectively ended its partnership in 2023 when it began using Apple M series chips across all of its products.

Apple Inc.'s attempt to restore its relationship with Intel Corporation is seen as an effort to align with the Donald Trump administration's push to revitalize American manufacturing.

President Donald Trump has worked to advance the semiconductor manufacturing industry, and in August, the federal government signed an agreement to acquire about 10% of Intel Corporation's total shares, making it the largest shareholder.

Apple Inc. previously announced a $100 billion investment in the United States and revealed that glass for iPhones and iPads would be produced at Corning Incorporated's U.S. plant.

Tim Cook, Chief Executive Officer, personally presented President Donald Trump with a commemorative plaque made of Corning Incorporated glass, inscribed with 'Made in USA,' mounted on a solid gold base.

Additionally, Apple Inc. is reportedly seeking to diversify its supply chain for Apple M series chip production, which has been heavily dependent on TSMC.

For Intel Corporation, a contract to produce Apple Inc.'s chips could help increase its modest foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) market share and enhance its technological capabilities.

On this day, shares of Intel Corporation listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market (Nasdaq) closed at $40.56, up 10.19% from the previous trading session.
