[Financial News] Yoon Eun-hye, formerly of the girl group Baby V.O.X, opened up about her difficult childhood and the time she was treated as a state guest in Mongolia during the peak of her career.
On the episode of Where is My Home aired on the 27th by Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), Yoon Eun-hye shared, “I moved a lot when I was young. I grew up in a house without my own room or even a bathroom. It was so tough that it still remains a trauma for me.”
She continued, “Despite the glamorous image, there were many hardships even during my time with Baby V.O.X. We often performed at scam concerts, and all the members had to act as breadwinners. Baby V.O.X was always in the red.”
Yoon also addressed the past episode where Baby V.O.X members reportedly received ‘1,000 pyeong of Mongolian land’ documents. She explained, “There were rumors that each member received documents for 1,000 pyeong of land, but we never knew what was true. In the end, it turned out to be false. We were scammed. It was state-owned land, so we could never actually own it.”
Previously, on KBS 2TV’s Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend, fellow Baby V.O.X member Kan Mi-youn said, “As first-generation Hallyu stars, we were invited by the President of Mongolia. After the concert, each member was gifted 5,000 pyeong of land and a Ger.”
She added, “However, when the development project was halted, the land documents became worthless. If it had been real land, I wouldn’t be on TV now—I’d be traveling the world.”
Baby V.O.X debuted in 1997 with their first album 'Hair Salon Day.' Unlike other girl groups at the time who emphasized innocence or cuteness, they distinguished themselves with a girl-crush concept. The group was especially popular in Greater China. Yoon Eun-hye joined in 1999 with their third album.
