As Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology rapidly advances, there have been recent cases where the faces and voices of celebrities and other public figures are illegally synthesized and used in criminal activities.
The types of damage have become increasingly diverse, including financial scams using synthesized voices to demand money, the creation of explicit content using idol faces, and voice files imitating specific actors to solicit investments or favors.
To prevent such crimes, the Korea Entertainment Management Association has stepped forward.
On the 27th, the association announced that, together with the Korea Digital DNA Center (KDDC), a subsidiary established by M83, it will jointly promote the 'Digital DNA' project to block illegal content involving celebrities.
'Digital DNA' is a system that extracts unique information such as a person's face, voice, and gestures using AI, Visual Effects (VFX), and security technologies, registers and stores it as an Official Digital Identity, and tracks and manages the use and distribution of this information in real time.

This system is designed to verify the authenticity and copyright of data and fundamentally block unauthorized copying and misuse. It features a robust authentication structure to ensure that only data authorized by the artist can be used in content production and distribution.
In particular, synthesized works created with unregistered data can be immediately identified as unauthorized, providing an important basis for future legal disputes or blocking measures.
The initiative also established an industry-wide standard requiring the use of only pre-registered official data, which is seen as a significant step forward.
A representative from the Korea Entertainment Management Association stated, "It is now time to move beyond simply erasing fakes and to establish a structure where only registered data can be used legally. Through Digital DNA, we aim to foster a healthy cultural industry environment and lay the foundation for K-content to be produced and distributed in a trustworthy manner in the global market."
The Korea Entertainment Management Association is affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and represents more than 3,000 popular culture artists in Korea, over 280 management agencies, and more than 600 members.
