[The Financial News]"I wish that, at the call of 'Okay, cut,' you would brush yourself off, stand up, and say, 'Everyone, thank you for your hard work. Today was truly wonderful.'"The funeral service for the late Lee Soon-jae, beloved by the nation as the oldest active actor, was solemnly held on the 27th at Asan Medical Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
At the funeral service, which was hosted by actor Jung Bo-seok, who played Lee Soon-jae’s son-in-law in the sitcom 'High Kick Through the Roof,' actor Kim Yeong-cheol, together with Ha Ji-won, delivered a eulogy in memory of the deceased.
Kim Yeong-cheol said, "If I could erase a single day, I would cut out that dawn. I wish I could erase this morning, too, when the funeral is held. If only this were a lie, or just a scene from a drama. I wish that, at the call of 'Okay, cut,' you would brush yourself off, stand up, and say, 'Everyone, thank you for your hard work. Today was truly wonderful.'"
Many in attendance were moved to tears by his eulogy.
Kim Yeong-cheol recalled, "You showed us the path of acting and taught us how to live as people. When I was by your side, I never lost my way. Even the smallest nod from you was always encouragement for us, your juniors."

He continued, "One day, you told me, 'Living each day is never easy. Always be humble, and live sincerely.' I think I finally understand the weight of those words."
Kim Yeong-cheol added, "You were always warm on set. You maintained unwavering dignity and courtesy. Many people found comfort and learned from your consistency. You always looked at everyone warmly. When someone seemed to be struggling, you conveyed so much more with your eyes than with words. I still cannot forget those moments."
Finally, Kim Yeong-cheol said, "Thank you for everything, sir." He added, "I and many of your juniors will remember you for a long time. I am grateful and I respect you."
