Man in His 70s Sets Himself on Fire in Public Restroom Near Office of the President of South Korea

[The Financial News] An incident occurred near the Office of the President of South Korea in Yongsan District, Seoul, where a man in his 70s attempted self-immolation. He was transported to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
According to police and fire authorities on the 27th, Mr. A, a man in his 70s, suddenly set himself on fire after exiting a public restroom at a children's park near the Office of the President of South Korea at around 11:10 p.m. on the 25th.
A member of the 202nd Security Unit, responsible for guarding the perimeter of the Office of the President of South Korea, quickly extinguished the flames using a fire extinguisher.
Mr. A suffered second-degree burns to his face and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
No suicide note was found on Mr. A, and it is reported that he made no statements.
Police plan to investigate the details of the incident once Mr. A's condition improves.
