[Financial News] A series of posts on the internet detailing the results of reporting illegally parked cars on sidewalks in Daegu’s busy districts to the Safety e-Report platform has captured the attention of netizens.
Illegal parking reports began after being told, "Take your stroller onto the road."

On the 26th, a post titled "Only 50 Cars Parked on the Dongseong-ro Street Sidewalk in Daegu Today Because It's a Weekday" appeared on Bobaedream, featuring photos of cars with their license plates obscured.
Similar posts have been uploaded since November 2023. All of them, apparently written by the same user with the same ID, differ only in the number of cars reported and the date. The location is always the same: Dongseong-ro Street in Daegu.
On this day, the user reported 50 vehicles, and on the 23rd, they had reported 102.
Photos posted by the user show sidewalks, intended for pedestrians, occupied by illegally parked cars. People are forced to squeeze between vehicles, and when there is no space, they must dangerously walk on the road.
The problem is not just illegal parking on sidewalks. Some vehicles are seen violating the rule prohibiting parking or stopping within 5 meters of a fire hydrant, while others are parked on sidewalks right next to public parking lots.
In the first year of posting these reports online, Mr. A introduced his Safety e-Report activity by asking, "How many times do you report a year?" He reported a total of 2,171 cases. As of November this year, he has reported 15,466 cases. He also explained his motivation for cracking down on illegal parking.

Mr. A explained, "I was trying to pass along the sidewalk with a stroller, but a car was blocking the way. When I asked the owner to move, they told me to 'take the stroller onto the road.' Since then, I report every car I see parked on the sidewalk."
Netizens Cheer: "Daegu Is Famous for Fines—So Satisfying!"

He also shared instances where vehicles were fined after being reported to Safety e-Report.
Netizens responded to the posts with comments such as "So satisfying" and "Daegu is famous for fines," expressing their support.
Some users expressed concern for the poster, warning, "Filming could lead to disputes or even lawsuits. Please be careful."
Many also suggested 'financial penalties' as a way to curb illegal parking.
One netizen argued, "The minimum fine should be 300,000 won, and from the second offense, mandatory education should be required by law." Another emphasized, "Fines for illegal parking are too low, so the problem persists. Penalties need to be strengthened."
