[Financial News] Actress Myung Se-bin (50) has opened up about the financial difficulties she faced after her divorce.
On November 24, in a teaser video uploaded to the YouTube channel for tvN’s 'You Quiz on the Block,' Myung Se-bin discussed her role in the current Joongang Tongyang Broadcasting Company (JTBC) weekend drama 'The Dream Life of Mr. Kim' and shared updates about her life.
In 'The Dream Life of Mr. Kim,' Myung Se-bin plays Park Ha-jin, a housewife and the wife of the main character Naksoo Kim (played by Ryu Seung-ryong). She remarked, "I have to portray a couple who has been married for a long time, but honestly, I don’t have much experience in that area," referring to her own divorce.
Myung Se-bin married a lawyer 11 years her senior in 2007, but the marriage ended in divorce after just five months. She revealed that after her brief marriage, she struggled financially, saying, "This month, I didn’t have enough to pay my credit card bill, so I started thinking about what I could sell. I sold my bags and other belongings. I was truly desperate."
She went on to say that at one point she thought, "Maybe I won’t be able to work as an actress anymore," and recalled learning about flowers and taking part-time jobs unrelated to acting. She added, "I once got a part-time job doing flower arrangements at a wedding hall, but they told me to work in the corner, out of sight," recalling how she was treated coldly.
Meanwhile, 'The Dream Life of Mr. Kim' is a drama about a 50-something corporate manager, Naksoo Kim, who, after being passed over for promotion, embarks on a journey to rediscover his true self. The show has resonated with viewers, and its 10th episode, which aired on the 23rd, recorded a 5.4% viewership rating, drawing significant attention.
