[The Financial News] Reports have emerged that a man in his 50s has been disrupting business for three years by visiting a bar run by a woman in her 30s every day and making inappropriate remarks.
According to Joongang Tongyang Broadcasting Company (JTBC) 'Case Chief' on the 25th, Ms. A, who has been operating a bar in Cheongju for the past three years, said, "He was a customer I was grateful for during our soft opening, but now I wish he would just stop coming."
Ms. A explained, "At first, Mr. B would come alone and behave politely, but then he started asking things like, 'Can I bring a parrot inside?' and 'I'm in such a good mood, can I dance?' displaying increasingly odd behavior."
At one point, Mr. B said, "Thank you for watching my performance," and spent 300,000 won to buy drinks for everyone. However, the next day, he called to complain, asking, "Why was such a large amount charged?" After Ms. A explained the situation, he simply replied, "I understand," and hung up.
Mr. B's behavior became more bizarre over time. Sitting at the bar, he would confess to Ms. A, saying, "I'm the same age as Tak Jae-hoon, and I like you," "You look like my ideal type," and "You're pretty, let's get married." He also boasted about his wealth, claiming, "I own a hotel in the Philippines."
Even when Ms. A ignored him or told him not to speak to her, Mr. B became angry, saying, "Actually, I have five wives and my girlfriend is an heiress to a hotel in Macau."
Additionally, if Ms. A talked with other customers, Mr. B would leave without paying. When she texted him to settle the bill, he would send unrelated replies such as "I'm worried about you" or "I'll pray for you."
When Ms. A was grieving the loss of her pet dog, Mr. B tried to comfort her by giving her wildflowers, but then suddenly made a sexually inappropriate remark, asking, "Can I touch your buttocks?"
Eventually, Ms. A moved her business about ten minutes away by car, but Mr. B continued to visit and behave strangely at the new location as well.
Ms. A appealed, "There are quite a few customers who act like this toward young female business owners. I hope people understand the difficulties self-employed women face and show basic manners."
