The company announced on the 24th that it recently signed an agreement with Evoloh, a leading U.S. company specializing in water electrolysis technology, to develop a Plant Package based on Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) technology. Full-scale development is set to begin at the end of November.
Evoloh possesses core technology for manufacturing electrolysis stacks that produce hydrogen by electrolyzing water using AEM. This technology does not require the expensive materials typically used for hydrogen separation, giving it a significant cost advantage over existing commercialized methods. According to GS Engineering & Construction Corp., Evoloh has completed pilot testing of megawatt-scale electrolysis stacks and has begun commercial production, demonstrating the feasibility of its technology.
Through its collaboration with Evoloh, GS Engineering & Construction Corp. aims to develop Plant Packages capable of producing hundreds of megawatts of hydrogen, further advancing its entry into the eco-friendly energy sector. A company representative stated, "By integrating GS Engineering & Construction Corp.'s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) expertise and experience, this marks a turning point as we expand from petrochemical-focused plant projects to the eco-friendly energy business." The representative added, "We intend to lead the green business sector by establishing a hydrogen market value chain."
