[Financial News] Chung Yoo-ra, daughter of Choi Seo-won (formerly Choi Soon-sil), a key figure in the Park Geun-hye administration's influence-peddling scandal, announced her intention to file a lawsuit against Han Dong-hoon and others.
On the 23rd, Chung stated on her social media that she had partially won a lawsuit related to lawmaker An Min-seok, and that she would pursue retrials, civil damages, and criminal complaints in a total of nine areas.
Chung claimed, "It took 10 years to bring An Min-seok to justice," and added, "I never gave up, even when all my assets were seized."
She went on to say, "I am preparing for my mother's retrial. My mother and former President Park were joint offenders; if my mother is acquitted, former President Park will also be acquitted. If the bribery charges are dismissed, the impeachment is invalid as well."
She continued, "I will file civil and criminal lawsuits against lawmakers who made statements during the influence-peddling scandal," adding, "My lawyer is reviewing potentially punishable remarks made by Choo Mi-ae, Park Young-sun, Lee Jun-seok, and others."
She also stated, "I will file criminal complaints against those who forced or committed perjury in the influence-peddling scandal, including Jang Siho and Han Dong-hoon."
Chung argued, "Wrongful verdicts and lies stole 10 years from both my mother and me, and the seizure of our assets left us suffering for a decade." She added that she plans to seek state compensation for the damages caused by judicial errors.
She further announced, "I will also file lawsuits against so-called 'leftist YouTubers.' As for Kim Ou-joon, Joo Jin-woo, Bong Ji-wook, and others who make a living off lies, I will not even request corrections but will immediately pursue civil and criminal lawsuits and claims for damages."
She emphasized, "I will handle all procedures myself, without help from the People Power Party or any lawmakers. No matter how much time or money it takes, I am determined to correct the influence-peddling scandal that shook the country nine years ago, regardless of the cost."
She added, "I have postponed my wedding this year to prepare for this fight," stressing, "I will show just how sharp the blade I have honed for 10 years truly is."
Earlier, on the 21st, the Seoul Southern District Court Civil Appeals Division 3-2 (Presiding Judges Heo Il-seung, Song Seung-woo, and Lee Jong-chae) ruled in a remanded trial that former lawmaker An must pay Choi Seo-won 20 million won in damages.
Choi had previously filed a civil suit for 100 million won in damages, claiming that between 2016 and 2017, former lawmaker An spread false information by raising suspicions about her alleged hidden assets.
The court stated, "We find the remarks to be false, as the sources and facts deemed to be true were not properly clarified over a long period."
