[The Financial News] It was recently revealed that a high-risk pregnant woman living on Jeju Island was safely transferred to a hospital in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, and received treatment with the help of the police and firefighting services.
29-Week Pregnant Woman from Jeju Island Airlifted to Changwon
According to Changwon Jungbu Police Station and others on the 19th, at around 5:44 p.m. on September 17, a woman in her 30s, 29 weeks pregnant and living on Jeju Island, exhibited symptoms of pregnancy-induced hypertension.
However, there was no suitable hospital on Jeju Island that could admit her. After searching hospitals nationwide, firefighting authorities received confirmation that Changwon Gyeongsang National University Hospital could accept her.
With the assistance of firefighting services, she boarded a helicopter to cross the sea.
The helicopter landed at Changwon Sports Park's auxiliary stadium at 6:50 p.m. that same day, but rush hour traffic congestion became an issue.
To ensure the ambulance carrying her could reach the hospital quickly, the police provided vehicle escorts and support.
A video of the event was uploaded to the Korean National Police Agency YouTube Channel.
