[Financial News] In a high-end apartment complex in Gangnam District, an incident occurred where a resident repeatedly shouted at a staff member who was informing them of the 'one meal per person' rule in the community restaurant. As a result, the staff member eventually resigned.
This complex, a newly built development with 3,000 households, operates its Community Dining Service under the principle that children aged 48 months to fourth grade receive 'kids' meals,' while everyone else must follow the 'one meal per person' policy.
According to reports, last weekend, a woman in her 40s, referred to as Ms. A, ordered a single meal and shared the side dishes and rice with her two children. When a staff member explained the policy, Ms. A raised her voice in protest. Many residents were present at the time, and several witnessed the incident.
Afterward, Ms. A filed multiple complaints with the dining facility, Management Office, District Office, and the property management company, without mentioning her own behavior. She demanded another hygiene inspection, the removal of related community posts, and a change of management. It was also claimed that she requested financial compensation from the property management company.
Due to the ongoing complaints and pressure, the staff member ultimately decided to resign. Mr./Ms. B, who reported the incident, commented, "The actions of one person have disrupted the operation of the entire community facility."
As news of the incident spread, residents began debating who was at fault. On community forums, many criticized Ms. A, saying, "How is enforcing the rules considered abuse of power?", "Verbally abusing staff and then pressuring them with complaints is the real abuse," and "Retaliatory complaints are no different from outright assault."
On the other hand, some residents urged caution, saying, "The facts need to be verified further," and "Judging based on only one side's account could lead to unfair harm."
According to Mr./Ms. B, some residents believe this incident should be addressed as an official agenda item for the complex. Since the dispute over enforcing the rules led to a staff member's resignation, they argue it could affect the community's overall operation.
However, as of now, neither the Management Office nor the property management company has issued an official statement.
