[Financial News] The Handball H League teams delivered a series of close matches, resulting in dramatic changes in the standings. Incheon Metropolitan City Corporation defeated Hanam City Hall Handball Club to move up to second place. Meanwhile, the SK Hawks secured the sole lead in the men's division of the Handball H League.
On the 22nd, Incheon Metropolitan City Corporation claimed a 26-21 victory over Hanam City Hall Handball Club in the first round, second match day of the Shinhan SOL Bank 2025–2026 Handball H League, held at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium (ticketLINK Live Arena) in Seoul Olympic Park.
With this win, Incheon Metropolitan City Corporation (4 points, 2 wins, 1 loss) overtook Hanam City Hall Handball Club, who had the same points, by virtue of their head-to-head record and climbed to second place. Lee Yosep led the attack with 8 goals, Kim Rakchan contributed 5, while Kang Jun-gu and Kim Jinyoung each added 4 goals.
Goalkeeper Junki An recorded 12 saves, and left wing Donghyun Park reached a career milestone with his 200th goal.
Despite strong efforts from Jaesoon Kim (5 goals), Hyeonho Seo (4 goals), Jihoon Kim (3 goals), and Jaeyong Park (8 saves), Hanam City Hall Handball Club could not avoid a come-from-behind defeat. Lee Yosep of Incheon Metropolitan City Corporation, who was named Most Valuable Player (MVP), stated, "Since our team is centered around younger players, we've focused on training to maximize stamina and speed, and it's paying off. Last season, we suffered many consecutive losses and had no winning streaks, but this season, even if we lose, I want to prove that strong teams don't have losing streaks."
Elsewhere, SK secured a 29-22 victory over Korea Armed Forces Athletic Corps (Sangmu) in the men's first round at ticketLINK Live Arena. With three consecutive wins to start the season, SK remains the only undefeated team among the six men's teams. Park Si-woo led with 7 goals and 3 assists, while Park Ji-seop added 5 goals. For Sangmu, Hyeseong Cha fought hard with 8 goals.
In a match between two teams that had lost their first two games, Doosan Handball Club defeated Chungnam Provincial Government 24-21. Doosan, aiming for their 11th consecutive overall championship, escaped a three-game losing streak to start the season thanks to 7 goals from Yeonbin Kim.
