In his inauguration speech, Cheol-woo Park, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, acknowledged, "It would be dishonest to deny feelings of unfairness," adding, "Let us begin with self-reflection within the Prosecution Service."
During his address on the 21st, Park referred to recent pressures for prosecution reform and criticism from the ruling party. He stated, "There has rarely been a time when the passion we have poured into our work felt so thoroughly denied, leading to a sense of deprivation and self-doubt." He also reflected on aspects that may have caused misunderstandings among the public, emphasizing the need for introspection.
Park also indicated the necessity of supplementary investigative authority for the Prosecution Service in his remarks. He explained, "Effective judicial oversight and supplementary investigations of police cases, which now account for a significant portion, are crucial areas where the Prosecution Service can reaffirm its relevance to the public." He added, "We will respond to changes and reforms in the prosecution system by gathering the collective wisdom of our members."
