[Financial News] A man from the Kingdom of Sweden has broken the Guinness World Records by inserting 81 matches into his nostrils, far surpassing the previous record of 68.
According to Guinness World Records on the 18th (local time), Martin Ströbeck from Sweden set a new world record in August for the most matches inserted into the nose.
Ströbeck easily surpassed the previous record of 68, set last year by Peter von Tangen Boscop from Denmark.
The father of two said he was inspired to attempt the record after his children, while looking through the Guinness World Records book, remarked, "It would be cool if Dad was in here."
Initially, Ströbeck thought, "I'm not the best in the world at anything," but began searching for a category he could potentially break.
During his search, the category for 'most matches inserted into nostrils' caught his attention.
Through practice, he discovered he could insert 35 matches into just one nostril.
Ströbeck explained, "When I tried it, I realized I could stretch my nostrils a lot and the pain was bearable. I guess I'm just naturally suited for this."
However, during the attempt, he faced the challenge of matches continually falling out of his nostrils.
After repeated tries, he developed a technique to minimize the matches dropping and eventually succeeded in setting the new record at an outdoor location.
Ströbeck shared, "I wanted my children to be proud of me and to see me as a 'cool dad' and a role model."
Guinness World Records noted that while his children found him impressive, they were also puzzled by how so many matches could fit into an ordinary-sized nostril.
