[Financial News] As NewJeans announced their official return to ADOR, some fans reportedly launched a mass fax campaign to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), demanding an audit of ADOR.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) on the 19th, a large number of complaint faxes were sent to the office of Minister Choi Hwi-young on June 16 and 17, under the name of NewJeans fandom 'Bunnies.'
The faxes stated, "The agency (ADOR), which is supposed to protect its artists, is harassing NewJeans members with incomprehensible actions," "ADOR is colluding with media outlets to create malicious public opinion," "By unilaterally supporting one side (Haerin and Hyein), they are fostering discord among the members," and "Please conduct an audit of ADOR."
An MCST official stated, "Similar complaints have been submitted not only via fax to the minister’s office but also through e-People," and added, "Since these have been formally received, we plan to review them internally and verify the relevant details."
The official continued, "However, the methods and schedule for interviews, written responses, or phone inquiries have not been determined yet. We need to hear from both ADOR and all NewJeans members, but first, we must assess whether that is even possible."
On the 30th of last month, the court ruled in a lawsuit filed by ADOR against the NewJeans members to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract, stating that the contract remains valid.
Immediately after the verdict, the members announced their intention to appeal. However, on the 12th, ADOR stated, "After careful consideration with their families, Haerin and Hyein have decided to respect the court’s ruling and abide by the exclusive contract." On the same day, representatives for Minji, Hanni, and Danielle also expressed their intention to return through their legal counsel, but ADOR said it was still verifying the authenticity and did not make it official.
None of the five members submitted an appeal by the deadline of midnight on the 14th, so the first trial verdict was finalized. As a result, the NewJeans members will remain with ADOR until 2029.
