[Financial News] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform Party (RP), strongly criticized the growing calls within the People Power Party for alliances with right-wing groups, remarking, “Is a cancer cell still a cell?”
People Power Party, Alliance Discussions with Right-Wing Figures like Jeon Kwang-hoon and Hwang Kyo-ahn Gain Momentum
On the 20th, during an appearance on SBS Radio’s ‘Kim Tae-hyun’s Political Show,’ Lee stated, “Na Kyung-won said we should even embrace Yoon Again and the election fraud theory groups, but the election fraud theory has become a cancer within the conservative camp. If it were my own body, I would cut out the cancer before it spreads, but there seems to be no sense of urgency.”
The remarks by Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, referenced by Lee, were made on the same radio program the previous day. Na said, “We don’t need to reject those who support our party’s candidate just because they are associated with Yoon Again or the election fraud theory.”
On the 16th, Jang Dong-hyuk, party leader, appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Lee Youngpung TV’ and expressed support for uniting with far-right groups such as Our Republican Party (Cho Won-jin), Liberty Unification Party (Jeon Kwang-hoon), and Freedom & Innovation (Hwang Kyo-ahn). Na Kyung-won currently serves as the head of the party’s general planning team for next year’s local elections.
On the same day, Lee Jun-seok also commented on Jang Dong-hyuk, saying, “I have said several times that he might become the second Hwang Kyo-ahn. Former leader Hwang also mistakenly believed he would be a strong presidential contender once the general election was over because Moon Jae-in had failed, which led people to rally around him. Now, similar people are gathering again.”
Ham Ik-byeong for Seoul Mayor, Lee Jun-seok for Gyeonggi Governor?
Lee also left open the possibility of running for Governor of Gyeonggi Province.
He remarked, “If Dongtan residents want it, I will run for Governor of Gyeonggi Province. If becoming governor would make it easier to work for Dongtan, I might take on the challenge, but for now, that’s not the case.”
Lee also hinted at the possibility of Ham Ik-byeong, who served as co-chair of the RP’s presidential campaign, running for Seoul Metropolitan City Mayor. He said, “I think Ham sees no reason not to run. Whether he wins or loses, if it helps young people get involved in politics, he should do it.”
