[Financial News] Orion Corporation is set to enter the markets of the Republic of South Africa and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Starting this month, Orion Corporation announced on the 20th that it will sell three varieties of Turtle Chips—Corn Soup, Choco Churros, and Caramel Popcorn—at over 300 premium SPAR supermarkets in South Africa. SPAR operates large-scale supermarkets and hypermarkets in major cities such as Cape Town and Johannesburg.
In addition to SPAR, Orion Corporation is negotiating entry with two to three other major local distributors.
To support this expansion, Orion Corporation participated in The Africa Food Show held in Cape Town, Republic of South Africa, this past June. The unique four-layered texture of Turtle Chips and a variety of flavors tailored to global consumer preferences received positive feedback from local buyers.
The Republic of South Africa is the continent's largest economy, accounting for about 15% of Africa’s total GDP, and is considered a 'young consumer market' with 61% of its population under the age of 34.
Orion Corporation has also succeeded in exporting Turtle Chips to major UAE cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Through Golden Star International LLC (GSL), a Dubai-based distributor, the company has begun distribution primarily in non-halal markets, with plans to expand its sales network to neighboring countries.
Since its launch in 2017, Turtle Chips has expanded into global markets including Asia, the United States, and Australia. Last year, the brand entered Costco Wholesale Corporation stores in the UK, Sweden, and Iceland, and in September, it was introduced to approximately 1,200 Carrefour stores across France, further strengthening its presence in Europe. Currently, Turtle Chips are sold in 30 countries across five continents.
An Orion Corporation representative stated, “The entry of Turtle Chips into South Africa marks an important bridgehead in building the ‘K-Snack Road’ across Asia, the Americas, Europe, Oceania, and Africa. With its unique texture and a wide variety of flavors that everyone can enjoy, we aim to make Turtle Chips a beloved brand among consumers worldwide.”
