[Financial News] CJ CheilJedang announced on the 20th that it will expand its business in the Middle East with Halal-Certified Seaweed Snack and stir-fried noodles.
CJ CheilJedang plans to first strengthen its business in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), then expand into neighboring countries. To increase the presence of bibigo Seaweed Snack and stir-fried noodles in mainstream local distribution channels, the company is partnering with local firms that have established distribution networks. By leveraging these networks to boost sales of strategic products, CJ CheilJedang aims to broaden its product lineup and eventually expand into nearby countries such as Qatar and Kuwait, further growing its Middle Eastern business.
To this end, on the 19th, CJ CheilJedang signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for business cooperation, including product distribution, with Al Khayat Investments (AKI), a UAE-based company, in conjunction with the Korea-UAE Business Roundtable held in Dubai.
AKI is a company engaged in various sectors, including food and other consumer goods, and distributes products from over 200 global and local brands across the UAE and neighboring Middle Eastern countries. The two companies plan to expand their collaboration to include joint product development and the operation of local production facilities.
A CJ CheilJedang representative stated, "With bibigo K-food, which has captivated taste buds worldwide, we aim to introduce the 'taste of Korea' to the Middle East as well," adding, "Through products tailored to local food culture, such as those with Halal Certification, we will establish ourselves as the leading K-food brand in the region."
