[Financial News] Cheol-woo Park, Director of the Anti-Corruption Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office (30th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute), has been appointed as the new chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.
Lee Jung-hyun, Research Fellow at the Legal Research and Training Institute (27th class), has been appointed as the chief of the Suwon High Prosecutors' Office, while Go Gyeongsun, also a Research Fellow (28th class), has been named chief of the Gwangju High Prosecutors' Office.
Yonghwan Jeong, Director of the Inspection Department at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office (32nd class), has been promoted to Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, and Min Cheol Joo, Head of the Second Criminal Division at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (32nd class), has been promoted to Director of the Anti-Corruption Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
On the 19th, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) announced via press release that it will implement new appointments for two prosecutors at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office level and transfer three others, effective on the 21st.
These appointments were made to address vacancies after the resignations of several high-ranking prosecutors, including Jung Jin-woo, former chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (29th class), Park Jae-eok, former chief of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office (29th class), and Song Kang, former chief of the Gwangju High Prosecutors' Office (29th class), following the fallout from the Daejang-dong development scandal. However, this round of appointments did not include a new chief for the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office.
An official from the MOJ explained, "These appointments are intended to fill vacancies caused by resignations such as that of the chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, to stabilize the prosecution organization, and to promote personnel renewal at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office level."
