Flag of South Korea Illuminates Abu Dhabi Landmark in Honor of President Lee’s State Visit

Financial News Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) — President Lee Jae Myung paid a state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 17th (local time). That evening, the UAE welcomed him by lighting up the exterior of a landmark building in Abu Dhabi with the Flag of South Korea.
Kim Nam-joon, spokesperson for the Office of the President of South Korea, explained in a written briefing on the 18th (local time), "On the previous night, the UAE illuminated the exteriors of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Mubadala Investment Company, and Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) with the Flag of South Korea to express their welcome for the state visit."
Earlier, as the presidential aircraft entered UAE airspace on the 17th (local time), four UAE Air Force fighter jets escorted the plane on both sides, welcoming President Lee and the First Lady.
At Zayed International Airport, an official welcoming ceremony was held with an honor guard and children greeting President Lee and the First Lady. High-ranking UAE officials, including Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, and Maysa bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, were in attendance.
Notably, Chairman Khaldoon and Minister Al Shamsi were designated as the official escorts for President Lee and the First Lady during the state visit.
During the visit to the national cemetery, Diyab, the second son of the UAE President and Vice Chairman of the Office of Development and Veterans Affairs, personally guided the delegation, demonstrating special respect. The UAE also displayed large numbers of national flags of both countries at the airport, the presidential palace, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, and around the accommodation. According to the UAE, the flag hoisted in front of the Ministry of Interior Headquarters was the largest ever displayed.
