[Financial News] The fire at the E-Land Fashion Logistics Center in the Pungse Industrial Complex, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, was completely extinguished 60 hours after it broke out.
Chungnam Fire Headquarters announced that the fire at the E-Land Fashion Logistics Center was fully extinguished at approximately 6:11 p.m. on the 17th. There were no reported casualties from the incident.
The fire, which broke out at around 6:08 a.m. on the 15th, was largely brought under control by about 3:30 p.m., roughly 9 hours and 30 minutes after it started.
Due to this fire, the logistics center—consisting of one basement level and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 193,210 square meters, roughly the size of 27 soccer fields—was almost completely destroyed.
Chungnam Fire Headquarters explained that, due to the sandwich panel structure of the logistics center, water sprayed from outside could not easily penetrate the interior. Strong radiant heat and flames also made initial entry impossible.
Authorities estimate that the building stored a total of 11 million pieces of clothing and footwear from the basement to the fourth floor. The exact scale and cost of the damage have yet to be determined.
Although it was expected that the steel frame debris would prolong the process of extinguishing remaining embers, the fire was completely put out on this day with the help of aerial ladder trucks.
A representative from Chungnam Fire Headquarters stated, "Despite the difficulty of entering the interior due to the risk of collapse, we were able to successfully extinguish the fire through focused external firefighting efforts."
Police have secured Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage showing bright flames on the walls, believed to be on the third and fourth floors of the logistics center, and are working to determine the exact cause of the fire through forensic analysis.
