[Financial News] A man in his 30s has been arrested after breaking into the home of Nana (real name Im Jin-ah), an actress and former member of the girl group After School, and attempting a robbery.
According to Guri Police Station on the 17th, the Namyangju Branch of Uijeongbu District Court issued an arrest warrant for the man, identified as A, citing concerns that he might flee.
Initially, the police booked A on charges of attempted aggravated robbery. However, after receiving a medical report showing that Nana’s mother was injured, the charge was changed to aggravated robbery resulting in injury, and a warrant was requested.
A is accused of entering Nana’s home in Acheon-dong, Guri, around 6 a.m. on the 15th, armed with a weapon. He allegedly threatened Nana and her mother, inflicted injuries, and demanded money.
It was determined that A climbed up to the veranda using a ladder he had prepared, then entered through an unlocked door.
After a physical struggle, Nana and her mother subdued A and called the police. During the incident, Nana’s mother was reportedly strangled and sustained injuries.
Nana was also injured during the struggle with A, while A suffered injuries to his jaw and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police stated that A does not appear to be a sasaeng fan of Nana or to have specifically targeted a celebrity’s home. The victims also testified that they had no prior acquaintance with A.
During police questioning, A reportedly claimed, 'I did not know a celebrity lived there. I committed the crime because I was short on living expenses.'
A police official explained, 'It appears that A entered after noticing the door was open while looking for a place to commit the crime. Regarding the suspect’s injuries, we are consulting with prosecutors to ensure self-defense is recognized.'
