[Financial News] Byungwoo Chun, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and a third-generation member of the Samyang Foods founding family, has been promoted from Executive Director to Executive Vice President.
On the 17th, Samyang Roundsquare announced executive appointments for its affiliates, effective for 2026. The company explained that Chun was promoted in recognition of his leadership in global projects for the Buldak brand and the expansion of overseas operations.
The new Executive Vice President, Byungwoo Chun, is the eldest son of Vice Chairman Kim Jung-su and a third-generation member of the owner family, at 31 years old. Chun joined Samyang Foods in 2019 as department head of the Overseas Business Division at age 25, was promoted to director after just one year, and became an executive director in October 2023, four years after joining the company.

He is credited with strengthening the core business by expanding the global marketing of the Buldak brand, including at events such as Coachella, and diversifying the product portfolio.
Meanwhile, Samyang Roundsquare appointed four new executive directors in this round: Hyunock Ha as Head of Strategy Division, Kang Suk-Hwan as Head of Digital Growth Division, Kim Yong-ho as Head of Korea Sales Division, and Kyung-ho Shin as Head of Europe Branch.
A representative from Samyang Roundsquare stated, “These appointments were made after a comprehensive review of the company’s mid- to long-term direction and internal leadership capabilities. We will continue to solidify the growth of Buldak as a global mega-brand and establish a future-oriented management framework.”
