At a fan meeting held at Tokyo Dome last June, Hanni of NewJeans drew attention by performing 'Aoi Sangoshou,' a 1980s hit by Seiko Matsuda, an icon of Japanese pop music.
Seiko Matsuda, the original singer of 'Aoi Sangoshou'—which Hanni, a leading K-pop idol, covered with her clear and pure voice—will be coming to Korea.
On the 14th, INSPIRE Entertainment Resort announced that legendary Japanese idol Seiko Matsuda will hold a concert in Korea on February 22 next year at Inspire Arena in Yeongjongdo, Incheon.
Titled 'Sing Sing Sing in Korea,' this concert is the seventh installment of the INSPIRE Concert Series, planned by INSPIRE Resort. It is part of Seiko Matsuda's tour celebrating her 45th anniversary since debut.
Seiko Matsuda, often called a living legend of Japanese pop music, debuted in 1980 with 'Hadashi no Kisetsu.' She quickly rose to become a J-pop icon, gaining explosive popularity throughout Asia.
She also achieved the remarkable feat of having 24 consecutive songs released in the 1980s reach No. 1 on the Oricon Chart, maintaining her superstar status even 45 years after her debut.
In particular, 'Aoi Sangoshou,' which gained renewed attention after being covered by Hanni, has built a strong fan base in Korea amid the resurgence of city pop and retro trends, continuing its popularity across generations.
Tickets for the concert will be available for pre-sale at 8 p.m. on the 28th through NOL Interpark Ticket, with general sales opening at 8 p.m. on the 5th of next month.
