Qualcomm Unveils Next-Generation Industrial Processor 'Dragonwing IQ-X' Series

[Financial News] Qualcomm Technologies announced the launch of its next-generation industrial processor, the Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-X Series, on the 14th.
The Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-X Series is designed for a wide range of industrial devices, including PLCs, advanced HMIs, Edge Controllers, Panel PCs, and Box PCs. Built for reliable operation even in extreme environments, the series features a robust design and broad peripheral compatibility, enabling seamless integration with various industrial equipment and supporting flexible application deployment. Additionally, its power-efficient architecture delivers a range of multimedia capabilities.

The Dragonwing IQ-X Series is engineered to meet the demanding requirements of OEMs and ODMs, offering best-in-class single- and multi-threaded computing performance, extended product lifespan, enhanced security, stable connectivity, and industry-leading power efficiency. At its core is Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU, built on an advanced 4-nanometer process. The platform supports a scalable configuration of 8 to 12 high-performance cores and up to 45 TOPS of AI processing power. It also operates within an industrial temperature range from -40°C to 105°C, ensuring reliable performance even in harsh conditions.
The Dragonwing IQ-X Series supports industry-standard COM module form factors, allowing for easy drop-in replacement on existing carrier boards and providing scalable solutions across various applications with evaluation kits. This ensures broad compatibility with standard hardware peripherals and bridge chips, delivering a seamless and consistent design experience for customers. Furthermore, the series offers extensive support for leading software, middleware, and applications, such as Qt, CODESYS Development System, EtherCAT, and other powerful development tools, enhancing performance, flexibility, and integration for industrial applications on Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC.
Industrial solutions powered by the Dragonwing IQ-X will be able to leverage the Qualcomm AI software stack and universal runtimes like ONNX and PyTorch to utilize the NPU for AI applications. The Qualcomm IQ-X Series provides core AI infrastructure for industrial automation, supporting seamless AI model deployment and application development for key use cases such as predictive maintenance, condition-based monitoring, and defect detection.
