[Financial News] A story about residents suffering inconvenience due to a car blocking the entrance of an apartment complex is spreading online, sparking outrage.
On the 13th, a user identified as A posted a photo on the automobile community Bobaedream, showing a white sedan parked horizontally in front of the apartment complex’s barrier gate. The vehicle blocked the entrance, causing inconvenience for residents.
A stated, "According to the security guard, the driver left the car like that because a parking sticker was attached and fled without leaving any contact information." A also asked, "Is there any way to address this issue, either forcibly or legally?"
Blocking roads in residential areas such as apartments over minor disputes has been a recurring source of conflict. On the 4th, a report was filed to 112 about a Bentley blocking the rear entrance of a parking lot in an apartment in Gochon-eup, Gimpo-si. The driver, who was using a chauffeur service at the time, reportedly acted out of anger after being directed by a security guard.
Last year in Incheon Metropolitan City, a man in his 30s was booked on charges of General Obstruction of Traffic after blocking the entrance to an apartment underground parking lot with his van for nearly 12 hours. He reportedly did so following a dispute with a security guard over parking, and the vehicle was eventually towed.
According to the Ministry of Government Legislation (MOLEG), blocking the entrance of an apartment complex may constitute General Obstruction of Traffic under Article 185 of the Criminal Act. This offense is established when someone destroys a road, waterway, or bridge, or makes traffic impossible or significantly difficult, and is punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to 15 million won. Additionally, intentionally blocking the road in front of a residence to temporarily obstruct vehicle passage may also be considered General Obstruction of Traffic.
