"Smarter" ChatGPT Released... OpenAI Launches GPT-5.1

[Financial News] OpenAI announced on the 13th that it has unveiled the upgraded GPT-5.1 Instant and GPT-5.1 Thinking models, building on GPT-5. With this upgrade, both performance and usability have been significantly improved, allowing users to receive even smarter and more natural responses.
GPT-5.1 Instant introduces an 'adaptive reasoning' feature, enabling the model to determine on its own whether a question requires deeper thought based on its complexity. As a result, it can respond more quickly while maintaining accuracy. OpenAI noted that this improvement has been confirmed by significant performance gains on mathematical and coding benchmarks such as AIME 2025 and Codeforces.
GPT-5.1 Thinking, the advanced reasoning model, adjusts its thinking time more precisely depending on the question. For complex problems, it takes more time to think deeply, while for simpler questions, it responds faster. The use of technical jargon and undefined expressions has been greatly reduced, making it easier for users to understand.
With this upgrade, ChatGPT’s tone and style have also become more personalized. While the basic, friendly, and efficient tones remain available, three new options have been added: more professional, more direct and honest, and more quirky and cheerful.
