[Financial News] A man in his 60s has been referred to the prosecution on charges of retaliatory murder after wielding a weapon at a Block-unit Housing Rearrangement Project union office in Cheonho-dong, Gangdong District, Seoul, resulting in one death and two injuries.
On the morning of the 13th, the Gangdong District Police sent former union president Mr. Cho (66), who is accused of retaliatory murder under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office.
Mr. Cho is suspected of attacking three employees—a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 60s, and a man in his 70s—with a weapon at the Block-unit Housing Rearrangement Project union office in Cheonho-dong, Gangdong District, at around 10:20 a.m. on the 4th. One of the victims died from the injuries. Last month, he had been summarily indicted for allegedly committing indecent assault against one of the victims while serving as union president.
Three days after the incident, Mr. Cho voluntarily waived his pretrial detention hearing at the Seoul Eastern District Court, which had been scheduled for the 6th. The court issued an arrest warrant, citing concerns over destruction of evidence and flight risk. Prosecutors have applied to the court to consolidate the stabbing and indecent assault cases for trial.
