[Financial News] A substitute driver was apprehended by police after driving a customer’s car while intoxicated and exceeding the speed limit.
The Incheon Jungbu Police Station announced on the 12th that it had booked Mr. A, a man in his 50s, without detention on suspicion of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
Mr. A is accused of driving Mr. B’s passenger car for about 40 kilometers from Goyang City to Yeongjong Island at around 2:20 a.m. on the 25th of last month while under the influence of alcohol.
He was found to have been speeding at 150 km/h on a highway with a speed limit of 100 km/h.
Police responding to Mr. B’s report measured Mr. A’s blood alcohol concentration at a level that warrants license suspension (between 0.03% and 0.08%).
Mr. B explained to the police, "While he was speeding, the warning alarm kept sounding. When I looked at the substitute driver’s face, I realized he was the person who had been drinking at the next table in the bar."
The investigation revealed that Mr. A was working as a substitute driver through Kakao T and had a history of multiple punishments for drunk driving.
During the police investigation, Mr. A claimed, "After drinking, I rested at a PC bang and thought I had sobered up before accepting the substitute driving request."
