Fire Breaks Out in Daechi-dong Apartment, 3 Hospitalized for Smoke Inhalation

A fire broke out in an apartment in Seoul’s Gangnam District, forcing dozens of residents to evacuate.
According to fire authorities, the blaze started around 9:30 a.m. on the 11th on the second floor of a 14-story apartment building in Daechi-dong, Gangnam District.
Twenty-four residents were rescued by the fire authorities, while eight others evacuated on their own.
Three people who inhaled smoke were transported to the hospital.
The fire authorities deployed 31 vehicles and 117 personnel, fully extinguishing the fire at around 10:40 a.m., about an hour after it started.
The fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
