Kim Sung-hoon, former Deputy Director of the Presidential Security Service (PSS), appeared as a suspect at the office of Special Prosecutor Kim Kun-hee, located at KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 11th.

[Financial News] Kim Sung-hoon, former Deputy Director of the Presidential Security Service (PSS), who is under suspicion of using a Navy vessel for a private gathering, is being summoned for questioning.
On the 11th, Kim appeared at the office of the Special Prosecutor Kim Kun-hee (headed by Min Joong-ki) at KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Kim was confirmed to be under investigation as a suspect.
When asked by reporters whether he was summoned because of the alleged Navy yacht party and if this was his first time being questioned, Kim nodded in response. However, he did not answer when asked about his alleged involvement in fishing.
First Lady Kim Keon Hee is suspected of using a Navy vessel for a private party with acquaintances during the vacation of former President Yoon Suk Yeol from August 2 to 8, 2023. At the time, Kim Sung-hoon was the Director of Planning and Management at the PSS, and there are allegations that he exerted pressure on PSS staff. A member of the special prosecutor’s team explained that the recent search and seizure was conducted only at the PSS.
The special prosecutor’s team launched a full-scale investigation on September 5 by searching the Presidential Security Service (PSS) in connection with the allegations.
As part of the investigation, the special prosecutor’s team plans to question Kim Sung-hoon about whether former President Yoon Suk Yeol or First Lady Kim Keon Hee ordered the Navy vessel to be dispatched, and whether he exerted undue pressure on PSS staff.
