[Financial News] Eun-jung Lim, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, addressed the controversy over abandoning the appeal in the Daejang-dong development corruption case, stating, “If one truly believed an appeal was necessary, anyone, including the chief prosecutor, should have been prepared to face disciplinary action and signed the appeal.”
According to legal sources on the 11th, Lim posted on her Facebook page, “I wonder how different things would have been if there had been such a reaction when Shim Woo-jung, the former Prosecutor General, gave up the immediate appeal regarding the cancellation of Yoon Suk Yeol’s detention as president. It is truly disappointing and regrettable,” she noted.
The previous day, Lim did not participate in a statement issued via the internal network 'Epros' by 18 chief prosecutors nationwide, including Park Jae-eok of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, demanding that Noh Man-seok, Acting Prosecutor General, explain the grounds and legal basis for abandoning the appeal.
Lim explained, “This morning, I was asked whether I would join the collective statement, but since the matter was related to an investigation involving Prosecutor Eom Hee-jun, and I was the complainant who previously requested an inspection into collective actions by prosecutors, I could not participate.”
She added, “I am currently pursuing an information disclosure lawsuit to confirm the Inspection Department of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office’s decision of ‘no misconduct’ regarding that complaint, and I will share the decision once I obtain it.”
Lim also referenced the Perjury Subornation Allegation Case involving former Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook, emphasizing, “The truth and responsibility regarding a case must be documented.”
