This contest, now in its 17th year since 2009, aims to remind the public of the importance of national security and to raise public awareness.
From June, a total of 3,002 entries were submitted over three months in four categories: video, photography, slogan, and poster.
The judging panel included university professors and media artists, among other experts. For the poster category, submissions were accepted and evaluated separately for adults, middle and high school students, elementary students, and kindergarteners. After preliminary and final rounds, a total of 156 winning works were selected.
In addition to awarding winners in each category, a comprehensive review of all entries this year resulted in the grand prize going to a poster with the message, 'The more secure, the less visible.'
Jaesung Yoo, acting commissioner of the KNPA, stated, "The National Security Guardians Contest has become a platform for communication between the police and the public on security awareness," adding, "I hope this serves as an opportunity for children, the leaders of the future, to reflect once again on the importance of security and the value of peaceful daily life."
