[Financial News] Research prosecutors at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office have reportedly agreed to recommend the resignation of Noh Man-seok, Acting Prosecutor General of South Korea and Deputy Prosecutor General, in response to the fallout from the decision to withdraw the appeal in the Daejang-dong case.
According to legal sources on the 10th, the research prosecutors at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office held a meeting the previous day and decided to deliver a statement to Acting Prosecutor General Noh, requesting a clear explanation of the facts regarding the decision to withdraw the appeal in the Daejang-dong case. The statement is also said to include a call for him to take responsibility, including clarifying his position.
Research prosecutors at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office are prosecutors assigned to each department, responsible for studying and reviewing the operation of the prosecution system and policy implementation according to their respective functions.
Given the seriousness of the matter, the statement is expected to be delivered to Acting Prosecutor General Noh without delay. On his way to work at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office that day, Noh avoided answering reporters' questions about whether he had been instructed by the Minister or Vice Minister of Justice (MOJ) to withdraw the appeal, saying, "I will answer next time."
