[Financial News] Blackpink’s Rosé has become the first K-pop artist to be nominated for a main category (General Field) at the 68th Grammy Awards. Her hit song ‘Apt.’ was nominated in three categories: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
This marks the first time a K-pop act or group has been nominated in the General Field categories—Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best New Artist—at the Grammys. Previously, BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) had been nominated for several Grammy Awards as the first K-pop act, but they have never been up for a main award.
On the 9th, Rosé expressed her overwhelming emotions on Instagram, writing, “I can’t believe my life,” and added, “I’m still trying to process everything.” She emphasized that the Grammy nomination is not only significant for herself but also “means so much to so many people,” and expressed her deep gratitude, saying, “I am truly, truly thankful—words cannot describe how grateful I am.” She also mentioned American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars, sharing the joy of the news with him.
The Netflix animation ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ OST was also nominated in five categories, including Song of the Year. EJAE, who composed and performed the OST ‘Golden,’ shared on social media, “There are no adjectives to describe how I feel right now,” and called it “something beyond imagination.”
The global girl group Katseye, formed by Hybe and Geffen Records, was also nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. The Best New Artist category is one of the six General Field categories and, along with Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year, is considered one of the ‘Big Four’ major awards.
Additionally, the Korean original musical ‘Maybe Happy Ending,’ which was remade in the United States, was nominated for Best Musical Theater Album, highlighting the presence of Korean creative content.
