Namwonju Interchange Entrance Lane Expansion... Alleviating Rush Hour Traffic Congestion

Wonju announced on the 10th that, together with the Korea Expressway Corporation, it will proceed with the expansion of the entrance lane to Namwonju Interchange on the Jungang Expressway by the end of this year.
Currently, the entrance ramp to Namwonju Interchange, managed by the Korea Expressway Corporation, has only one lane. During rush hour and on weekends, congestion extends to Bugwon-ro, causing significant inconvenience for many residents.
In response to continuous requests from citizens, Wonju asked the Korea Expressway Corporation to expand the entrance. The Korea Expressway Corporation has decided to invest 800 million won to widen the entrance ramp from one lane to two lanes.
Won Gang-su, Mayor of Wonju, stated, “I deeply appreciate the Korea Expressway Corporation for actively responding to the residents’ ongoing requests to resolve traffic inconveniences. We will continue to do our utmost to create a safe and convenient transportation environment for everyone.”
