[Financial News] Wemade is accelerating the spread of everyday blockchain experiences through a special event that combines blockchain technology with sports.
According to industry sources on the 9th, Wemade is continuing its efforts to popularize blockchain technology by leveraging tennis and golf.
The recently concluded national amateur tennis tournament, 'WEMIX OPEN 2025,' was notable for being operated using Wemade’s blockchain-based transparent social platform, Wepublic. Held for the second time following last year, the 'WEMIX OPEN' is a nationwide amateur tennis tournament under the slogan 'The Start of a Rally for a Better World.'
True to its slogan, 'The Start of a Rally for a Better World,' the 'WEMIX OPEN' has become more than just a sports event—it is establishing itself as a venue for realizing social value through blockchain. At last year’s 'WEMIX OPEN 2024,' winners received sponsorship funds equal to their prize money, allowing participants to directly donate to various social contribution projects within Wepublic. This year as well, a portion of the entry fees was donated to support projects, further promoting a transparent donation culture using blockchain.
Wemade’s 'WEMIX Championship' is a tournament featuring the nation’s top female golfers. The 'WEMIX Championship 2024,' held last year, attracted around 20,000 visitors and drew significant attention from golf fans. The upcoming 'WEMIX Championship 2025,' a KLPGA Tour Super Final event to be held at Mauna Ocean Country Club in Gyeongju on the 15th and 16th, has already sold out all 3,500 super early bird tickets, signaling high anticipation.
The 'WEMIX Championship' is expanding the participation experience for golf fans by integrating blockchain technology. At the 'WEMIX Championship 2023,' tickets were issued as NFTs, transforming them from simple admission passes into collectible digital assets. Last year, Wepublic also introduced programs such as athlete memorabilia funding and environmental clean-up campaigns at the tournament venue, allowing fans to participate directly. This year, a variety of interactive events, including winner prediction contests, will also be held through Wepublic.
A Wemade representative stated, “We are expanding the application of blockchain technology into areas closely connected to daily life, such as sports, to promote its widespread adoption. We will continue to create environments where people can naturally experience blockchain in their everyday lives.”
