[Financial News] A large-scale rally will be held in various parts of central Seoul on the weekend of the 8th, and severe traffic congestion is anticipated.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) announced on the 5th that tens of thousands of labor union members are expected to participate in a large rally on the 8th in central areas such as Jongno, Euljiro, Jangchungdan-ro, and Yeouido.
In the morning, stages for rallies and multiple events will be set up on Sejong-daero, Jangchungdan-ro, and Yeoui-daero. In the afternoon, after a large rally on Jangchungdan-ro (from DDP Intersection to Heunginjimun Intersection), participants will march toward Jongno and Euljiro.
The police plan to operate the opposite lanes as flexible lanes on Sejong-daero and Jangchungdan-ro during the rallies. During the march, the central bus-only lanes between Jongno 2-ga Intersection and Heunginjimun Intersection on Jongno will be used so that route buses and regular vehicles can travel together.
On Euljiro, vehicles will be restricted between DDP Intersection and Euljiro 1(il)-ga Intersection, and traffic will be diverted toward Toegye-ro. On Yeouido's Yeoui-daero, the opposite lane will also be operated as a flexible lane to minimize inconvenience to citizens.
SMPA will deploy approximately 330 traffic police officers on site to guide vehicle detours while maintaining north-south and east-west traffic flow as much as possible.
An SMPA official stated, "Severe traffic congestion is expected on major roads in central Seoul," and advised, "Please use the subway if possible, and if you must drive, check traffic information in advance."
Meanwhile, rally schedules and traffic conditions can be checked through the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Traffic Information Hotline and the Central Traffic Information Center Website.
