[The Financial News] A woman in her 20s who insulted a parking attendant by saying, "Our dog is more expensive than you," after being asked to turn off her car engine, has been fined.
On the 5th, Sewook Kim, presiding judge at the Changwon District Court, announced that a woman in her 20s, referred to as A, was fined 1.5 million won for contempt.
A was indicted for insulting a female parking attendant in her 70s, referred to as B, at an underground parking lot in Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do in July last year, by saying, "If my dog dies, will you compensate me? Our dog is more expensive than you."
At the time, A was sitting in her car with the engine running. When B asked her to turn off the engine, A made these remarks in the presence of other parking attendants and customers.
Angered by the comment, B grabbed A's wrist and assaulted her. When A's boyfriend, C, tried to leave with A in the car, B blocked their way and repeatedly grabbed C's clothes.
C also grabbed B's wrist and pushed her upper body, assaulting B in the process.
The court stated, "A severely insulted B by comparing a person to a pet and assigning a price to human dignity. Rather than reflecting on her wrongdoing, A seems more focused on blaming the other party, raising doubts about her genuine remorse."
B was fined 1.5 million won for initiating physical force, while C was fined 700,000 won, taking into account that B blocked the car and provoked the altercation.
