Hwang Ki-yeon, the new President of KEXIM [Financial News] The Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) announced on the 5th that Executive Director Hwang Ki-yeon has been appointed as the 23rd President of KEXIM.
Following his predecessor, Heesung Yoon, he is the second internal appointee to the position. The President of KEXIM is nominated by the Minister of Economy and Finance and appointed by the President of South Korea.
President Hwang graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) and earned a master's degree in Management Information Systems from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Since joining KEXIM in 1990, he has served as Head of Service Industry Finance, Human Resources, Planning, and Inter-Korean Cooperation, and since 2023, as Executive Director overseeing risk management, digital finance, development finance, and government trust fund operations.Hwang is recognized for his extensive experience across all banking operations and his insight into the era of artificial intelligence (AI). He is highly respected among KEXIM employees for his communicative leadership.A KEXIM official stated, "With another internal candidate appointed as President following his predecessor, we expect that his accumulated experience will contribute to the national economy through proactive financial support for Korea-U.
