Jeju Air announced on the 5th that it has increased the number of daily flights on the Incheon–Osaka route from four to seven, starting October 26 with the launch of the winter schedule. This marks the highest frequency among airlines operating between Korea and Japan.
The Osaka route, now operating with increased frequency, is the most popular choice for travelers between Korea and Japan.
According to tourism statistics from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), a total of 8,817,765 Koreans visited Japan last year. Of those traveling for tourism, 77.9% visited Japan more than twice in 2024 alone. Osaka was the most visited destination, accounting for 32.7%.
The Osaka route also sees strong demand from Japanese passengers. Last year, approximately 470,000 Japanese travelers visited Korea via Jeju Air, with about 139,000 departing from Kansai International Airport (KIX), representing 29.5% of the total.
With the increased flights on the Incheon–Osaka route, Jeju Air aims to further capture the demand for repeat visits by Japanese travelers. An analysis of Japanese members' boarding records revealed that 22.9% of Silver Plus Members, who are upgraded after five or more flights in two years, and 29.2% of Gold Members, who are upgraded after 15 or more flights, primarily used the Osaka route.
According to the '2024 Survey on Foreign Tourists in Korea' by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), the rate of repeat visits by Japanese tourists to Korea reached 72.5% in 2024. Notably, 44.7% of these travelers visited Korea four times or more.
Jeju Air operates flights between Osaka and Korea’s major hub airports, including Incheon, Gimpo, and Gimhae.
A Jeju Air representative stated, “The Incheon–Osaka route is one of the most popular for travelers from both Korea and Japan. With this increase in flights, we can now offer a wider range of schedules. We will continue to expand our routes and enhance passenger convenience to strengthen our position on Korea–Japan routes.”
