[Financial News] Air Busan is reopening the Busan-Nagasaki air route in response to the growing popularity of travel to smaller Japanese cities.
Air Busan announced on the 5th that it will operate additional non-scheduled flights between Busan and Nagasaki three times a week—on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—from January 4 to March 27 next year.
On Tuesdays, the charter flight will depart from Gimhae International Airport at 3:55 p.m. and arrive at Nagasaki Airport at 5:10 p.m. The return flight will leave Nagasaki Airport at 6:10 p.m. and arrive back at Gimhae International Airport at 7:15 p.m.
Air Busan will also offer a variety of partnership discounts for passengers on these charter flights, including deals on local airport buses, rental cars, and admission to major tourist attractions in Nagasaki. To receive the discounts, travelers simply need to present their Busan-Nagasaki boarding pass at partner companies.
Air Busan has steadily expanded its network of flights connecting Gimhae International Airport to smaller Japanese cities, diversifying its routes. Since launching charter flights to Oita in 2017, the airline has added destinations such as Kumamoto, Shizuoka Prefecture, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima. In 2023, Air Busan began regular service to Matsuyama, one of Japan's representative small cities. Charter flights from Busan to Nagasaki and Toyama, operated in October this year, achieved load factors in the high 90% range, demonstrating robust demand and growth for travel to smaller Japanese cities.
An Air Busan representative stated, "For travelers seeking unique destinations, Japan's small cities—rich in distinctive atmosphere and culture—are becoming increasingly attractive alternatives. We will continue to expand our network to various destinations, contributing to greater people-to-people exchanges and the revitalization of the tourism industry."
