"Why He Put Cleaning Detergent in Food: 'My Wife Drinks in Front of Our Child'"

The victim noticed a strange smell from the food and experienced physical discomfort. She then checked footage from a home security camera she had installed and directly confirmed the act.

According to Bundang Police Station, at around 11:35 p.m. on the 3rd, A was caught in the act of adding cleaning detergent to stew at his home in Baekhyeon-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted aggravated assault.

On the same night, at about 10:30 p.m., A's wife, B, checked the home security camera footage after hearing a suspicious noise in the kitchen. She saw her husband adding something to the stew and immediately reported it to the police.

During the police investigation, B stated that since the end of last month, she had noticed a chemical smell in the food at home and experienced symptoms such as vomiting after eating, which made her suspicious.

It was reported that she installed the home security camera to record the act directly.

During questioning, A admitted to part of the charges and explained, "I disliked seeing my wife frequently drinking alcohol in front of our child."

The couple's child, who is under the age of 10 and lives with them, did not suffer any physical harm.

Police confirmed that there was no prior record of domestic violence reports against A. They are conducting further investigations to determine if similar incidents occurred in the past, as claimed by B.

Depending on the results of the investigation, police plan to request an arrest warrant for A.
