YouTube announced on the 4th that it will add Kurly, Queenit, and Ohouse as new partners to its YouTube Shopping affiliate program. This program is designed to help creators generate revenue. Starting today, participating creators can tag products from Kurly and Queenit in their content on YouTube, and from early next week, they will also be able to tag products from Ohouse.
The YouTube Shopping affiliate program supports creators’ monetization by offering product tagging features across various formats, including videos, Shorts, and live streams. As of June, more than 45% of eligible creators in Korea have joined the program. By March, product tags had been applied to over 950,000 videos. Korean users’ engagement with YouTube Shopping continues to grow, with more than 15 million logged-in users in Korea searching for shopping-related content on YouTube as of July.
Since its launch in Korea in June last year, the YouTube Shopping affiliate program has expanded its partnerships to include Coupang, Olive Young, Zigzag, and ABLY. With the addition of the new retail tech company Kurly, the lifestyle platform for women in their 40s and 50s Queenit, and the integrated life event solution Ohouse, creators can now tag and showcase products from a wider range of categories, including lifestyle, food, and retail. This enables creators to introduce a broader selection of products, interact with subscribers, and increase their earnings, while users can look forward to an enhanced shopping experience.
A YouTube Shopping representative stated, “Since the introduction of the YouTube Shopping affiliate program in Korea last year, the total watch time for shopping-related content has increased by more than 300% year-on-year, indicating a significant rise in YouTube Shopping engagement. We will continue to diversify the range of products available on YouTube Shopping and strive to provide an integrated shopping experience that allows more users to easily purchase desired products while watching content.”
