[Financial News] Hancom announced on the 4th that its artificial intelligence (AI)-based hybrid work environment technology has been officially approved as an international standard (ITU-T F.746.19) by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialized United Nations agency for information and communication technology (ICT) standardization.
The ITU is the world's leading ICT standardization organization, with 194 member countries, major corporations, and research institutes participating to establish standards for key future industries such as telecommunications, media, and AI. Adoption of a standard by the ITU signifies official global recognition of the technology's credibility and industrial value.
The newly approved standard addresses requirements for communication and collaboration methods in hybrid work environments. It specifically defines methodologies for leveraging AI technology to enhance communication quality and collaboration efficiency in settings that combine remote and in-person work.
In particular, Hancom played a leading role in reflecting key requirements in the standard, drawing on more than 30 years of unique expertise in document technology. These requirements include AI-powered automatic meeting minutes generation and real-time collaborative document editing that reflects participants’ emotions and intentions. This achievement marks a significant milestone, with Hancom’s AI Hybrid Collaboration Technology being recognized as an international standard.
This accomplishment was not achieved by Hancom alone. It is even more meaningful as it was made possible through close cooperation with leading domestic research and standardization organizations such as the Korea ITU Research Committee, the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA), and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), collectively demonstrating the strength of Korea’s ICT capabilities.
Kim Yeonsu, CEO of Hancom, stated, “This international standard approval is an important milestone, showing that Hancom’s accumulated document technology is evolving into a global standard for collaboration technology in the AI era. We will continue to strengthen cooperation with the government and domestic research institutes, actively participate in ongoing standardization efforts, and lead the market by contributing to the development of the global technology ecosystem.”
