The National Archives of Korea announced on the 3rd that it will conduct the 2025 ‘Peru International Records Management Training Program’ online for 42 staff members of the National Archives of Peru from the 4th to the 8th.
This training was planned as a three-year program (2024–2026) at the request of the National Archives of Peru, which sought to learn from Korea’s digital records management experience and achievements. The curriculum covers everything from the basic theory of digital records management to practical exercises and the development of implementation plans.
For the National Archives of Peru, specialized training to strengthen its capabilities in developing digital records management policies and systems is a key task. There is a pressing need for systematic education covering the entire digital records management process.
Peru is working to strengthen cooperation with Korea in the field of digital government and, with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), is pursuing the Peru Cloud-based Central Government Electronic Document Integrated Management System Project.
Now in its second year, the program has been expanded to include advanced courses aimed at enhancing practical skills through an understanding of digital records management methodologies and issue discussions.
Key training topics include: ▲ case studies on the design and implementation of records production and management systems, ▲ practical work on the transfer, classification, appraisal, and disposal of records, ▲ public access to records services, and ▲ discussions on digital records management policy directions and expert interviews.
This year, the advantages of online lectures have been leveraged to significantly expand training opportunities, allowing twice as many participants as last year (20 to 42). Most lectures are held live from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time in Peru (4 a.m. to 8 a.m. Korean time), taking into account the time difference, to maximize convenience and educational effectiveness.
In Lima, face-to-face lectures are also being conducted in collaboration with the Korea-Peru Digital Government Cooperation Center and the Peru Korean School, supplementing the limitations of online training.
At the Korea-Peru Digital Government Cooperation Center, special lectures are being held to share the current status of the Peru Cloud-based Central Government Electronic Document Integrated Management System Project. The Peru Korean School offers lectures and hands-on experiences on Korean language, hanbok, and other aspects of Korean culture, providing participants with an immersive training experience.
Meanwhile, the National Archives of Korea has operated international training programs for 572 participants from 28 countries since 2008 as part of its Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects. In Peru, 26 trainees have completed the program over four sessions since 2023.
